60 Minutes Interviews Bill James

Last night, 60 Minutes did a piece on Boston Red Sox statistician Bill James, the man who invented "sabermetrics". James created the stats known as "slugging percentage", "on-base percentage", and "k/bb ratio (strikeout to walk ratio)". Sabermetrics has redefined baseball stats (even fantasy baseball players consider slugging percentage and k/bb ratio) and these stats helped shape the philosophy of Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane, known as "Moneyball".
